The elders and staff are very encouraged and excited about the attendance and offering numbers this summer. We normally expect to see a little drop in attendance during the summer months to coincide with many members taking vacations. Even with the trips and vacations our numbers have remained good. This is a positive trend and just two ways to judge the health of a congregation. Keep inviting your friends, we have a ground swell of excitement that is building here.
Every Tuesday and Thursday evenings @ 6:30 the ladies meet at the church building to participate in a ladies exercise class. All ladies are welcome to attend. For more information please contact Marie Layden at marieml@live.com or 330-4929
Are you plugged into the service aspect of your Christian walk? There are many opportunities for service here at Towne South, the Welcome ministry, Sound operators for the worship ministry, do you play an instrument? The Cleaning ministry, communion ministry, and these are just a few. If you are not currently in a service ministry see your flock leader or any elder or staff member and see where you might be able to fill a need at TSCC while fulfilling your desire to serve our Lord and Savior.

Fireproof Your Marriage & Fortify Your Family
There are so many pressures on the marriage and family these days. Financial pressure, the stress of parenting, misunderstandings about the differences between men and women, boredom, temptation – it’s enough to scorch our marriages and break down the family. Marriage and the family is one of the primary areas that people are hurting in our society. But God offers help and hope through His Word for those who are hurting.
As a church we want to "Connect the Heart of God to the Hurt of Man." That’s why the theme for our fall sermon series and programming is Fireproof Your Marriage and Fortify Your Family. In addition to the sermon series, we will have a Sunday School class on Parenting Your Teen (video curriculum by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott) facilitated by David Brothers and Ronnie Woolard. On Sunday night, we will offer two SALT talks on this same theme – Making the Most of Your Marriage taught by Bill Griffin and Figuring Out Your Finances taught by David Sawyers. There will be other SALT talks offered as well. This will all kick off on Sunday, September 14th.
Towne South will host a marriage seminar Living the Promise led by Keith and Pat Lewis from West Park Church of Christ in Portsmouth, Virginia on Saturday, September 20th from 8:30-12:00. The seminar is free and child care will be provided. Please sign up at table in back of the auditorium if you plan to attend.
With all of this going on, we have a great opportunity to reach out to our community and invite them to discover God’s help and hope for marriages and families. We’re sending out 3,500 post cards to the surrounding community informing them of our ministries and inviting them to come check us out. But the best advertisement we have is you. Think about friends, family members, coworkers and neighbors who could use some encouragement in this area and invite them to attend. It all begins September 14th. [Brad Giffin]
